PPR secures planning approval for 45-bed Care home by River Thames

PPR Estates (PPR) is excited to announce that Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Planning Committee has unanimously voted to approve a planning application to convert Chivas House, Chancellors Wharf, London into a 45-bed care home. Conversion work on the £55m re-generation project is due to start next year after further detailed designs by KYN Care Homes, our partner on this project.

Chivas House, a circa 50,000sq ft 1980’s office building close to Hammersmith Bridge has been vacant since 2019. PPR and KYN are proud to be refurbishing the existing building with a high-quality design, rather than redeveloping the site from scratch. This is the most Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) friendly way to the site back into productive use. The approved designs feature a new garden with a dozen additional trees and will also significantly enhance the streetscape at this key Riverside site. The new care home will help meet the local shortage for specialist elderly care and create much needed local jobs.

Jon Caplan, Managing Director PPR, said: “Securing planning committee approval for Chivas House is an important step in bringing this redundant riverside office building back into productive use. Working with KYN, the future operator of the site, we are delivering a best-in-class care environment that will serve the community for decades. This is exactly the kind of sensitive re-generation at the core of PPR’s strategy: adding social value, supporting local jobs, and improving the built environment. We now look forward to collaborating with all our stakeholders in delivering the next phase.”

PPR’s core plus office re-generation funds
