PPR Joined Lord Banner & Lord Gascoigne for the PLG Housing Market and Delivery Discussion

Nick Hopkinson, PPR Director, joined Lord Banner & Lord Gascoigne this week in Parliament for the PLG Housing Market & Housing Delivery to discuss the current challenges facing SME Develop/ Investors in achieving the Governments House growth targets.

Sadly, the round table group agreed with Nick’s observation that “the SME House building is in a state of total collapse currently!”

The toxic mix of an ever growing administrative burden of planning forms, continuous policy changes, inadequately resourced and unaligned local planning teams, badly implemented Gateway/ Building Safety regulations before any thought to debt costs and business viability make urban regen & SME Housebuilding almost impossible currently.

the Lord’s agreed to make sure the Government understood this reality. We will wait to see if the Chancellor’s announcement today of additional funding for affordable housing has a meaningful impact on the housing crisis. As always, the devil will be in the detail!
